Soil pre-emergence herbicide for control of annual grasses and broadleaf weeds in sunflower, corn, and other economically important crops.
Product form and active substance:
Emulsion concentrate with a content of acetochlor 900 g/l.
Chemical class:
Chloracetonilides.
Packaging:
10 L canisters.
Duration of protective action:
The protection period for acetochlor is, on average, about 60 days. This time frame depends on many factors and conditions of application of the product: degree of moisture in the surface soil layer, uniformity of distribution of working fluid, incorporation, timing of culture emergence, and soil shading.
Mechanism of action:
The active substance — acetochlor, is absorbed from the soil mainly through weed shoots and their roots. It inhibits protein synthesis in weeds. The effect of the product begins immediately after application and lasts throughout the period of vegetation.
Properties and advantages:
Soil herbicide Kratos — is a classic technique for producing most "row" crops without mechanical intervention during the growing season;
Application of the product allows to carry out sowing of crops at an earlier time, which contributes to more effective use of winter-spring moisture by cultivated plants;
Kratos creates favorable conditions for more vigorous growth of crops due to ensuring the absence of competition with weeds;
Use of soil herbicide ensures the implementation of the "clean start" program, under which crops receive an advantage in using all vital life support factors compared to weed vegetation;
Eliminates the need for inter-row tillage, which allows reducing costs on additional payment of labor, fuel and lubricants and technical resources;
The half-life period of the active substance for 3 months allows the use of herbicide in crop rotation without any restrictions.
Features:
Most optimal conditions for application of soil herbicide Kratos is moist, finely cloddy surface of the soil on which working solution is applied. It is recommended to apply the product immediately after sowing or 3-4 days before emergence of a crop plant, but provided that there are no heavy rains that can wash it into the subseed zone.
Incorporation of the product in arid conditions contributes to binding with residual soil moisture and formation of a herbicidal screen. A large number of unevenly distributed plant residues may prevent effective work of the product.
Incorporation into moist conditions will allow mixing the product with volume of soil and form a stable (non-washing) herbicide screen. Otherwise (without incorporation), by the time of emergence, there is an increased risk of phytotoxicity through localization of a highly concentrated screen on the surface of the soil and the possibility of being transferred downward along the profile of seedlings by heavy precipitation! In such cases, incorporation of the herbicide is mandatory, despite the moisture content in the soil.
In case of using seed material of sunflower and corn hybrids, breeding of which was carried out using metolachlor active ingredient, it is recommended to use a soil herbicide named Avangard.
WHO classification, toxicological characteristic:
III class (moderately toxic).
Shelf life and storage conditions of the product:
Three years in closed factory packaging at temperatures from +5 oC to +35 oC.
