Aktsent

Salad "Accent" – a leaf type Corn variety developed by the Dutch breeding company Enza Zaden. It differs with high productivity both in open ground and in greenhouses, allowing to get abundant harvests in spring, autumn and even until winter with proper care.

The plant grows fast, reaching full maturity in 14‑21 days after sowing. Leaves about 10 cm high have a round shape, dense texture and rich dark‑green color. Short stems create a compact look, while vertical leaf growth ensures neatness and tidiness of the plant.

"Accent" has a pleasant nutty taste, which makes it an ideal ingredient for fresh home salads, industrial salad mixes, and decorative dish garnishing. It also pairs wonderfully with meat and fish dishes as a side dish.

For growing, a sunny open area protected from drafts is recommended, with fertile soil. The variety can be cultivated without seedlings: seeds are sown to a depth of 1.5 cm at a distance of 20×10 cm between plants. When growing under winter cover, the plot must be mulched or covered with spruce branches.

Harvest as leaves grow – first cut off outer leaves 7–10 cm long, then continue harvesting until full maturity. Due to high transportability and early ripening time, "Accent" is suitable both for market realization of fresh produce and for processing in salad mixes.
