Paloma

Paloma beans — an ultra-early Dutch selection snap bean variety developed by Nunhems Zaden. The vegetative period is 50-55 days from planting, allowing the variety to be used for both first and second crop rotations. The plant is low-growing, reaching 45-55 cm in height, with large leaves and sturdy stems, densely covered with dark green pods 11-12 cm long. The seeds have good germination, and the beans thrive on various soil types throughout Ukraine, demonstrating adaptability to growing conditions and responsiveness to standard agronomy, moderate watering, and compound fertilizers. The variety is characterized by high yield — 1.5-2 kg per square meter — as well as resistance to diseases such as anthracnose and bacterial spot. Paloma beans are suitable for producing diverse products: young pods are consumed fresh, while beans are suitable for freezing, canning, drying, and manufacturing ready-to-eat cut or whole products. The nutritional value of the beans is high due to their content of vitamins, protein, and carbohydrates, making them a versatile product for various culinary uses. Optimal conditions for Paloma bean fruiting are moderate temperatures below 32 degrees Celsius, ensuring a stable and high-quality yield. The variety is suitable for cultivation both in open ground and under cover, expanding its application in agriculture.
