BERLINAL

Berlinal is an early-maturing variety of frisée endive, developed by Rijk Zwaan. The leaves of this variety are deeply cut, folded, and wavy with toothed edges, giving them a characteristic decorative appearance. The rosette has a width of 35–38 cm and a height of about 24 cm, while the heart is wide-elliptical and light green. The base of the midrib is narrow and white, creating a contrast with the rich green color of the leaf.

Berlinal is distinguished by high yield – up to 5.8 kg/m², and the mass of one marketable plant can reach 450 g. The variety is resistant to marginal necrosis and bolting, making it a reliable choice for growing both in open ground and in film greenhouses. It tolerates fluctuations in humidity and temperature well, maintaining leaf quality even under adverse climatic conditions.

Endive Berlinal is intended for use with fresh leaves in home cooking: salads, side dishes, appetizers. Due to its structure and taste, it is also suitable for processing into various dishes. The variety is easy to grow, requiring no special care conditions, making it popular among farmers and vegetable garden enthusiasts.
