Daisy Chaika

Breeding Heritage and Cultivar Profile

The 'Chayka' daisy is a product of rigorous scientific research conducted by the Educational and Scientific Center of the Vegetable Research Station, part of the Federal Scientific Center for Vegetable Production. Developed by breeders G. D. Levko and V. M. Turushina, this cultivar holds a distinct position in the ornamental plant market as a reliable, classic choice favored for its predictable performance and hardiness in garden settings.

Visual Characteristics and Application

The standout feature of this daisy is its significant flower size, reaching 4–5 cm in diameter. This makes the plant a visually striking element in landscape design. Typically, 'Chayka' is utilized for creating dense borders and filling garden beds where a neat, vibrant splash of color is required. Due to its compact growth habit, the 'Chayka' daisy integrates seamlessly into complex floral arrangements, providing well-defined edges for garden paths or flower beds without overshadowing neighboring species.

Why 'Chayka' Remains a Staple

Unlike many modern hybrids that demand specialized maintenance, 'Chayka' relies on the established principles of academic breeding. Its reputation is built on consistent flowering and adherence to stated morphological traits. Gardeners prioritize this cultivar for its balanced growth and ability to maintain its aesthetic appeal throughout the season, which is essential for maintaining sharp, professional-looking border lines.
