Mallow is a perennial plant, often grown as an annual or biennial. When sown in spring, it forms a rosette of leaves in the first year, and flowering occurs in the second year. Early sowings in January-February may result in flowering during the first year. Mallow seeds retain viability for up to three years, with two-year-old seeds having better germination than freshly harvested ones. The plant prefers sunny locations and nutrient-rich soil, which promotes vigorous growth and abundant flowering. Mallow can grow up to 1.5 to 2.5 meters tall, and large burgundy-red flowers decorate the plant in July and August.
