Currant Lebidka

Selection Heritage from NUBiP of Ukraine

The 'Lebidka' blackcurrant variety is a product of long-term breeding efforts by the NUBiP of Ukraine, focused on developing high-yielding crops adapted to regional climatic conditions. This variety has secured a firm position in the berry sector, where crop reliability and minimization of input costs are key success factors.

Agronomic Profile and Morphology

In field conditions, 'Lebidka' proves to be a highly technological variety. The shrub reaches a height of 1.5 to 2.0 meters while maintaining a compact, upright growth habit. This plant architecture significantly simplifies maintenance, inter-row cultivation, and mechanical harvesting. One of the variety's core strengths is its high berry transportability, allowing for distribution to distant markets without compromising product presentation.

Phytosanitary Resilience

The immune profile of 'Lebidka' is particularly notable:

• High resistance to powdery mildew, a critical pathogen in commercial berry production.
• Comprehensive protection against leaf spot diseases, including anthracnose and septoria.

These traits enable agricultural enterprises to reduce the frequency of fungicide applications, which not only lowers production costs but also contributes to obtaining an environmentally cleaner harvest.

Choosing this variety is a logical step for farms focused on stable yields and long-term plantation productivity. The combination of Ukrainian breeding with excellent storage and transport characteristics makes 'Lebidka' a rational choice for both commercial farmers and home gardeners.
