Cucumber ZL-161

Versatility and Stability in Cucumber Production

The JL-161 hybrid is a product of Russian breeding, designed to bridge the gap between greenhouse efficiency and open-field adaptability. As a parthenocarpic variety, it eliminates the dependency on insect pollination, making it an excellent candidate for controlled glasshouse environments where climate regulation is paramount, while maintaining enough robustness to thrive in traditional open-field setups.

Market Positioning and Key Features

For growers focusing on the fresh produce market, JL-161 represents a reliable asset. Its reputation is built on consistency and the physical quality of the harvest. Key technical specifications include:

• Pollination Type: Fully parthenocarpic, ensuring high fruit set rates regardless of environmental conditions.
• Fruit Dimensions: Produces uniform cucumbers ranging from 13 to 15 cm in length.
• Production Scope: Highly adaptable to both intensive glasshouse cultivation and standard open-field agricultural practices.

The market niche for JL-161 consists of producers who require a predictable harvest that meets standard supermarket criteria for appearance and texture. The variety is characterized by its excellent shelf life and consistent crunch, which are critical for supply chain stability. By maintaining a straightforward growth profile, JL-161 reduces management complexity, allowing for a balanced focus on yield optimization through routine irrigation and nutrient management.
