Cucumber L5118

Efficiency and Early Yields

The L5118 cucumber hybrid is engineered for producers who prioritize speed and fruit quality. With a generative plant habit, the plant allocates its energy primarily toward fruit set rather than excessive vine growth. Reaching harvest in under 40 days, this hybrid is a top contender for the early-season market in both open-field and greenhouse conditions.

Key Benefits

• Rapid Maturation: A sub-40-day harvest window ensures you capture the peak market prices at the start of the season.
• Market Appeal: The 9–10 cm dark green fruits offer excellent uniformity, essential for retail presentation.
• Classic Flavor: Being a bee-pollinated variety, it retains the crisp texture and rich flavor profile that consumers demand, often missing in parthenocarpic varieties.

Ideal Use Case

L5118 excels in environments where natural insect pollination is available, making it a staple for traditional open-field farming. It is a strategic choice for growers targeting local markets that prioritize freshness and authentic taste over long-shelf-life industrial varieties. In greenhouse settings, the hybrid performs reliably provided there is adequate access for pollinators.

Considerations: Like any bee-pollinated hybrid, success is weather-dependent and requires active insect activity; in controlled environments, manual pollination or beehive introduction is recommended for optimal yield.
