Vyatksky cucumber is a high-yielding hybrid variety developed for cultivation both in open ground and under temporary film cover. It is characterized by high resistance to various diseases, including cucumber mosaic virus, powdery mildew, downy mildew, and root rots, as well as good drought tolerance and ability to withstand temperature fluctuations. The plant is indeterminate with strong vine growth and good lateral branching, ensuring a prolonged fruiting period extending into late autumn. One to two fruits form at each node, contributing to high yields—up to 12.5 kg per square meter.
The fruits of the Vyatksky cucumber have a cylindrical shape, length of 12–14 cm, and diameter of 3.5–4 cm, weighing 135–140 g. The cucumbers are bright green with short white stripes, slightly ribbed warty surface, and white spines. The flesh is dense and crunchy, retaining its flavor even after thermal processing, making this variety suitable for fresh consumption as well as pickling, marinating, and canning.
Due to its outstanding characteristics, the Vyatksky cucumber is well-suited for cultivation in risky agricultural zones and adverse weather conditions. The recommended planting scheme is to place three plants per square meter, optimizing yield and fruit quality. This variety combines early maturity, disease resistance, tolerance to adverse factors, and excellent taste, making it a popular choice among gardeners and farmers.
