Cucumber variety Phoenix — this is a popular salad variety, well adapted for cultivation in open ground. It was developed at the Crimean Experimental and Selection Station of the Federal Research Center of the All-Russian Institute of Plant Genetic Resources and has gained wide popularity due to its excellent taste qualities and resistance to adverse conditions. The variety is characterized by late maturity, high yield, and a prolonged fruiting period, making it highly sought after by gardeners.
Plants of the Phoenix variety are indeterminate, vigorous, and branching, with vines up to 3 meters long. Flowering is predominantly female, with fruits often forming in clusters at nodes. The cucumbers are medium-sized, up to 16 cm long and 4-5 cm in diameter, with a spindle shape and rounded-triangular cross-section. The skin is a deep green color with long light stripes, covered with large bumps and white hairs. The flesh is juicy, crisp, with a pleasant sweet taste and a rich aroma.
The Phoenix variety is highly resistant to false powdery mildew and cucumber mosaic, significantly simplifying care and increasing crop stability. To prevent bitterness and hardening of the skin, fruits should be harvested regularly every 1-3 days, especially under conditions of water deficiency. The cucumbers are suitable for fresh consumption, as well as for pickling and marinating, making the variety versatile and convenient for various processing methods.
