TOTOCHA

Totocha cucumber-cornichon is a new ultra-early, high-yielding hybrid of the cornichon type, developed by the Siberian Research Institute of Plant Husbandry and Selection. This variety is characterized by its rapid maturity — from germination to the beginning of fruiting, it takes only 44-46 days. Totocha is well-adapted to harsh Siberian climatic conditions, including sharp temperature fluctuations, changes in air and soil humidity, making it a reliable choice for cultivation in open fields, greenhouses, and under cover.

The hybrid has a high degree of parthenocarpy, allowing fruit formation without pollination. Fruits form in clusters, with up to four small green cucumbers, 9-10 cm long and weighing about 45 grams, developing in each node. The fruits are dark green, large-buckled, dense, and crisp, genetically free of bitterness. They possess excellent taste qualities both fresh and for pickling and salting.

Totocha’s fruiting is vigorous and uniform, ensuring high yields — up to 30 kg per square meter. The hybrid is resistant to major cucumber diseases such as downy mildew, powdery mildew, bacterial disease, and root rot. These characteristics make Totocha cucumber a valuable variety for cultivation under difficult climatic conditions and ensure a stable, high-quality harvest.
