Description EMERALD EARRINGS
Emerald Earrings is an early-maturing cucumber hybrid developed for cultivation in open ground, under temporary film covers, as well as in film and winter greenhouses. Plants are vigorous, indeterminate with unlimited growth and moderate branching, exclusively bearing female flowers. Leaves are medium-sized and green, with 2 to 10 fruiting nodes forming in each leaf axil, ensuring uniform fruiting and high yield. Optimal care and balanced feeding are required for successful plant development. The fruits of Emerald Earrings cucumber have a cylindrical shape, 9–11 cm long, 3–4 cm in diameter, and weigh 100–130 grams. The fruits are dark green with short, whitish stripes and moderate spotting, covered with dense hairs and white spines, so harvesting is recommended with gloves. This variety is versatile in use: the fruits are suitable for summer salads, pickling, marinating, and canning, including pickles and cornichons. The hybrid is highly resistant to common diseases such as cucumber mosaic virus, root rot, powdery mildew, and tolerant to downy mildew, bacterial wilt, and brown spot. The time from germination to first harvest is 42–47 days. Yield reaches 12–14 kg per square meter, making this variety attractive for commercial and personal cultivation. Sowing for seedlings is recommended at the end of April, and transplanting into the ground should occur at the end of May or beginning of June when plants have 3–4 true leaves.
