Cucumber Sonet

Stable Yields in Open-Field Conditions

The «Sonet» cucumber, developed by Sedek, is a classic bee-pollinated variety favored by commercial growers looking for consistent, high-quality yields in open-field settings. Its generative growth habit ensures that the plant directs energy primarily toward fruit development, making it an efficient choice for large-scale production.

Key Agrotechnical Advantages

«Sonet» consistently delivers in field conditions. Key features defining this variety include:

• Early Maturity: Harvesting begins as early as 40 days after germination, allowing producers to capture early-season market demand.
• Disease Resistance: Built-in resistance to downy mildew, cladosporiosis, and powdery mildew significantly lowers the need for chemical fungicide applications and minimizes crop loss during high-humidity periods.
• Market Appeal: The small-warted, 7–9 cm long fruits have a uniform shape and deep green color, making them highly desirable for fresh market sales and pickling/canning.

Practical Application

This variety is particularly suitable for operations focusing on open-field cultivation. As it requires bee pollination, «Sonet» integrates well into crop rotations that attract pollinators or fields situated near apiaries. Its firm texture and compact size ensure excellent transportability, maintaining its market-ready appearance even after extended shipping. Growers value «Sonet» for its reliable performance; under proper management, it provides a substantial yield peak in the first half of the season, maximizing the return on land use.
