PERESVET — a medium-maturing cucumber variety intended for cultivation under plastic coverings in private households. This parthenocarpic salad-type variety features an indeterminate growth habit, a vigorous and highly branched plant with female flower type. Leaves are large and green, and the cucumbers have medium length, elongated-cylindrical shape with smooth surface and sparse white hairs. The weight of one cucumber is 120-130 grams, and the flavor of the fruits is of high quality. The commercial yield of this variety reaches 8.5-9.1 kg per square meter. PERESVET exhibits resistance to diseases such as downy mildew (VOM 1) and powdery mildew (PM).
For successful cultivation of PERESVET cucumbers during winter or under insufficient natural light, modern supplemental lighting technologies are recommended. Specifically, LED or phytolamps with power of 50-60 W per square meter are used, ensuring the required light level during cold months from November to January. Proper variety selection and optimal lighting conditions contribute to obtaining a good yield even in home conditions, such as on a windowsill.
Phytolamps with red-blue spectrum, approximately 18 W, have a beneficial effect on cucumber development, promoting harmonious growth of roots, leaves, canopy, and flowers, and also aiding fruit set. Such light spectrum is especially effective for growing strong and disease-resistant seedlings, as well as for supplemental lighting of plants experiencing insufficient daylight. Using phytolamps significantly improves the quality and quantity of PERESVET yield when grown in greenhouses, home conditions, or specialized cultivation setups.
