Lubava cucumber is a bee-pollinated mid-early hybrid with a maturation period of 44 to 50 days. Plants of this variety are strong-growing, medium-branched, and medium-leafed, with a female flowering type, ensuring the formation of one to three fruits per node. The cucumbers have an oval-cylindrical shape, moderately ribbed with rare bumps, black-tipped, green in color with distinctly visible short stripes. The average fruit weight is about 106 grams, and the length reaches 11 centimeters. Such appearance and size make Lubava cucumbers universal for canning and fresh salads.
The hybrid is highly resistant to several diseases, including cucumber mosaic virus, cladosporiosis, powdery mildew, downy mildew, bacterial disease, and fusarium. These qualities significantly increase crop reliability and reduce the need for intensive plant protection, which is an important advantage for gardeners and farmers. Due to its resistance and qualities, Lubava cucumber is suitable for cultivation both in open ground and under plastic coverings.
Moreover, Lubava cucumbers are widely used in the food industry, especially for canning. Canned cucumbers contain natural ingredients: cucumbers, drinking water, kitchen salt, sugar, dill, acidity regulator — acetic acid, horseradish leaves, garlic, bay leaf, and red pepper, which impart the product with a rich flavor and aroma. Canned cucumbers are packed in 650-gram packages of 6 pieces and have a shelf life of up to 24 months under proper storage conditions.
