Levina F1 cucumber is an early, bee-pollinated hybrid of cornichon type, developed by the Dutch seed company Seminis. This variety is primarily characterized by its predominantly female flowering and vigorous growth, ensuring stable fruiting. The fruits have a light green color, medium ribbed surface, and a length of 10 to 15 cm, with each fruit weighing approximately 70 grams. The skin does not become tough, and the cucumbers are distinguished by their high-quality shape and absence of bitterness, making them ideal for fresh consumption, canning, and pickling.
Levina F1 exhibits high stress resistance and adaptability to various climatic conditions, allowing cultivation in all zones, including stressful ones. The hybrid is resistant to diseases such as cucumber mosaic virus, cladosporeiosis, and powdery mildew, significantly increasing yield and product quality. Under any weather conditions, the yield ranges from 3-4 to 5-6 kg per square meter. It is recommended to grow in open ground both vertically and horizontally, with mandatory access for bees for pollination.
For successful cultivation of Levina F1 cucumbers, warmth, adequate humidity, and fertile soil are required. Plants respond well to the application of both organic and mineral fertilizers. Due to its characteristics, this hybrid is ideally suited for fresh market sales and processing, as well as for home canning and pickling, where small cornichons retain their crisp texture and aroma, attracting consumers with their taste and appearance.
