Cucumber Cortes

Cucumbers «Kortes»: Field Performance and Handling

Working with the «Kortes» hybrid from Euro-Semena, the focus is on predictability in open-field conditions. As a vegetative-type plant, it requires an agronomist to manage vine vigor carefully, but it compensates with impressive fruit size, rarely seen in standard cucumber varieties.

Field Experience and Maintenance

With an individual fruit weight reaching 200 grams, the physical load on the vine is significant. Based on field observations, this hybrid responds well to consistent fertilization; its vegetative nature demands high nutrient input to support the development of such large fruits. Proper spacing is critical: overcrowding in the field limits airflow and hinders the harvesting process.

• Field Resilience: The plants are robust and adapt well to open-field environments. They do not require overly complex agrotechnical procedures, provided irrigation is stable.
• Harvesting: The 200g fruit size makes manual harvesting efficient. The fruits are easy to spot, significantly reducing the labor hours needed during peak picking.
• Marketability: The size of these cucumbers makes them a strong contender for the fresh produce market, where visual impact and uniformity are prioritized.

If you are looking for a hybrid that consistently yields large fruits without the need for constant, daily pruning of ovaries, «Kortes» is a practical solution. It is a reliable tool for growers focused on high-yield, open-field production destined for immediate sale.
