Skvirs'kyi 280 SV — a medium-early corn hybrid with FAO 280, intended for cultivation in the Forest-Steppe and Polissia zones of Ukraine. This hybrid is characterized by high productivity and adaptability to various climatic conditions. During the intensive growth period, plants reach a height of 270–320 cm and have 16–18 leaves on the main stem. The hybrid has weak bushiness, which promotes good ventilation and reduces the risk of disease. The ear has a weak conical shape, 20–22 cm long, with 18–20 rows of kernels and 40–49 kernels per row. The 1000-kernel weight ranges from 280–310 g, and the kernel yield from the ear reaches 79–80%.
The Skvirs'kyi 280 SV hybrid exhibits high resistance to lodging and diseases, as well as significant cold and drought tolerance, making it a reliable choice under unstable weather conditions. It quickly sheds moisture, facilitating harvest and reducing yield losses. The recommended plant density at harvest varies depending on soil moisture: 70–75 thousand plants per hectare under adequate moisture, 55–60 thousand under dry conditions, and 65–70 thousand in zones with unstable moisture.
Skvirs'kyi 280 SV is suitable for combined use: production of grain, silage, bioethanol, and biogas. Over the years of testing, the hybrid has shown average grain yields (standard moisture) of 8.65–8.87 t/ha, with some farms achieving 9.5–10.5 t/ha, exceeding group maturity standards by 1.3–2.0 t/ha. Seed production is conducted on a sterile basis with full fertility restoration, ensuring high seed quality and stable yields.
