Maize LIMIVI 822

Genetic Potential and Purpose of LIMIVI 822

French selection expertise from Limagrain focuses heavily on biomass stability. The LIMIVI 822 maize hybrid is engineered as a specialized tool to provide livestock operations with a high-quality feed resource. The hybrid’s success is built upon the balance between dry matter accumulation rates and moisture retention in the leaf and stalk mass, a critical factor for the silage process.

Key Agronomic Features and Crop Formation

• Ripening Dynamics: The hybrid demonstrates a high rate of grain moisture loss while maintaining the vegetative mass in a green state (the "stay-green" effect). This allows agronomists to flexibly choose the harvest window without compromising the quality of the silage.
• Ear Architecture: Kernel set is adapted for intensive farming technologies. The high starch concentration in the grain provides increased energy density, which directly impacts livestock productivity when calculating daily rations.
• Root System and Stalk Integrity: Limagrain’s design prioritizes lodging resistance. A massive root system ensures efficient soil moisture uptake, minimizing yield loss risks during short-term drought periods in the second half of the vegetation cycle.

Practical application of LIMIVI 822 in temperate climate conditions confirms its ability to effectively utilize natural soil potential. Unlike universal hybrids, this variety emphasizes maximizing feed units per hectare, positioning it as a strategic asset for farms focused on dairy and meat production.
