RG 290 VM is a mid-early, high-carotene corn hybrid with red-orange kernels, developed to ensure high productivity and resilience under adverse conditions. Plants reach a height of 220-230 cm, with cylindrical ears 20-22 cm long and 16 rows of kernels, each row containing 35-40 kernels. The kernels are oval-shaped with a 1000-kernel weight of 270-290 g, featuring a red dorsal side and well-developed ridge layer. Kernel yield from the ear is approximately 84%, contributing to high productivity.
The hybrid exhibits exceptional heat and drought resistance, making it a leader in adaptation to dry conditions and high temperatures. It also demonstrates very high resistance to lodging, pest damage, and southern rust, as well as moderate cold tolerance. RG 290 VM has moisture content comparable to top foreign standards, enabling use even at late harvest times without loss of grain quality.
A key feature of this hybrid is its elevated carotene content in kernels (449-558 mg/kg), which exceeds that of conventional corn by 1.6-1.9 times. This makes it especially valuable for producing poultry and animal feed. The hybrid’s potential yield reaches 11-13 t/ha, confirming its high and stable productivity across various climatic zones.
