KULUNDINSKAYA 2

Corn variety Kulundinskaya 2 is an early-maturing synthetic population with FAO 130, developed by cross-pollinating several self-pollinated lines. This variety is recommended for cultivation in the West Siberian region, particularly in the Altai Krai, and is included in the State Register specifically for silage production. Plants are of medium height, reaching from 160 to 240 cm depending on growing conditions. The tassel forms early, with a characteristic medium length and medium intensity of anthocyanin coloration of silk, which is absent in some plants. The ear has a medium length, weakly conical shape with a short or medium stalk, and the grain is predominantly intermediate, closer to siliceous, with yellow-orange coloring in the upper part.

The variety is characterized by high yield: average yield of dry matter is about 63.4 centners per hectare, while green mass yield varies from 100 to 450 centners per hectare. Grain yield reaches 28–45 centners per hectare, confirmed by data from West Siberian region trial plots and experiments in the Altai Krai and Voronezh Oblast. High productivity is noted on irrigated plots, where yield exceeds standards by more than 37 centners per hectare.

Kulundinskaya 2 exhibits resistance to major corn diseases such as southern gummy mold, rust, and blister rust, ensuring stable yields and reducing the risk of losses. Due to its characteristics, the variety is widely used for both silage and grain production, making it versatile and in demand in the regional agricultural sector.
