Maize Corn Hybrid DSP 5145 X 1

Swiss Genetics in the Field: Working with DSP 5145 H 1

When it comes to cultivating maize for either the fresh market or industrial processing, consistent performance is key. This specific variety is all about predictability. Being a mid-early ripening hybrid, it hits the "sweet spot" for many farms, ensuring the crop reaches full maturity without the risks of late-season frost.

Agronomic Traits and Field Performance

What stands out immediately in the field is the uniformity of the grain. The yellow-orange color of the cobs meets the quality standards required by processors. The breeding work led by Alexander Strigens (Delley Seeds and Plants) clearly focuses on high adaptability to temperate climate zones. In practice, the hybrid is straightforward to manage and responds well to standard agronomic programs.

• Ripening cycle: The mid-early maturity allows for efficient planning of the harvest campaign.
• Versatility: This hybrid is equally suitable for the fresh market (excellent aesthetic appeal) and for processing, maintaining great grain quality throughout.
• Maintenance: The crop is quite responsive to intensive nutrition and standard weed/pest control programs, making it reliable for commercial scale operations.
