Corn Hybrid Yarovec 243MV — a mid-early hybrid with FAO 240, developed by the Institute of Steppe Agriculture of NAAN Ukraine and registered in the National Register of Plant Varieties since 2010. This tall variety reaches a height of 250–260 cm, does not branch, and exhibits high resistance to lodging and stem breakage. Approximately 15 leaves form on the main stem, and the cylindrical ear, 22–24 cm long, is positioned at a height of 70–80 cm. The grain is yellow, dent-shaped, with a 1000-grain weight of 280–300 g, ensuring a high grain yield of 82–85%.
The hybrid is suitable for cultivation in various climatic zones of Ukraine, including Polissia, Forest-Steppe, and Steppe, with recommended planting densities ranging from 50,000 to 85,000 plants per hectare depending on the region. Yarovec 243MV demonstrates high resistance to lodging, cold tolerance, drought resistance, and resistance to major diseases and pests, receiving 8 out of 9 possible points for each of these traits.
Potential grain yield is 11–12 tons per hectare. The hybrid is characterized by intense grain moisture release, which reduces moisture content during harvest and improves product quality. It responds well to improved growing conditions, ensuring stable and high yields. Corn seeds are impregnated with the biostimulant and fungicide Maxim 025, enhanced with eco-friendly paint free of polymers, packaged in durable three-layer kraft bags of 25 kg each, ensuring convenient storage and sowing.
