Maize CR 774 UM

Culinary Performance and Field Management

The KR 774 UM hybrid represents a professional choice for producers targeting the fresh market. Developed by the P.P. Lukyanenko National Grain Center, this late-maturing hybrid is engineered for consistency. Managing this crop requires a clear understanding of its late-season needs, as it utilizes the full potential of the growing season to maximize ear weight and kernel quality.

Operational Insights

From an operator's perspective, success with KR 774 UM depends on three key pillars:

• Hydration Control: Given its late maturity, maintaining soil moisture through the grain-filling stage is non-negotiable for yields.
• Nutrient Efficiency: The hybrid responds vigorously to high-input technology; ensuring balanced fertilization is essential to support the development of the dent-type yellow kernels.
• Harvest Management: Since the end-use is fresh produce and culinary preparation, timing is critical. Harvesting at the peak of milk-dough maturity ensures the texture and presentation required by fresh-market buyers.

The dent-type, yellow grain is specifically bred to meet the demands of both commercial kitchens and retail produce aisles. Maintenance of the crop is straightforward, provided that standard phytosanitary practices are followed to ensure the food safety standards required for human consumption are met. Choosing this hybrid means investing in a product that delivers high culinary value and a visually appealing harvest that stands out in the fresh produce segment.
