Colosseum 180 VS

Colosseum 180 VS is an early-maturing corn hybrid with a FAO of 180, intended for cultivation in steppe, forest-steppe, and forested regions. The hybrid is a simple modified type with toothed, yellow-orange kernels, sometimes with red stripes. Plants reach heights of 160 to 240 cm, have strong stalks, and produce conical-cylindrical ears 20-24 cm long with 14-18 rows of kernels. Ear attachment height is 81-91 cm, and the 1000-kernel weight is approximately 250 g. Colosseum 180 VS is distinguished by high yield potential: 125-135 c/ha, with average yields across different zones ranging from 80 to 125 c/ha. The hybrid exhibits high resistance to major diseases and stress factors, including helminthosporiosis, stem and ear fusarium, and powdery mildew. Notably, it shows high drought tolerance (9 out of 10) and good lodging resistance. Initial growth energy is rated at 8 points, promoting rapid plant development. The plant is low in branching and requires pinching to 1-2 stalks and summer nutrient control to form high-quality cobs with minimal tasseling. The top should be pruned in early August, leaving two leaves above the ear. Colosseum 180 VS is versatile in use — suitable for both grain and silage production. Grain yield is 78-80%, and plant density at harvest varies by region: in the steppe — 50-55 thousand plants per hectare, in the forest-steppe — 70-80 thousand, and in the forested zone — 85-90 thousand. Early maturity (95-105 days) allows the hybrid to successfully adapt to various climatic conditions. The cobs are dense, tasty, with orange-colored mature kernels, non-allergenic, suitable for fresh consumption and all types of processing.
