Accent MV — a high-yielding mid-early hybrid of sweet corn developed by Syngenta. The plant's vegetative period is 80–85 days, allowing for full-sized ears to be harvested as early as 80–83 days after sowing. The hybrid is suitable for cultivation across all agro-zones of Ukraine due to its high adaptability and resistance to heat, drought, and other stressful weather conditions. Plants reach a height of about 220 cm, have a strong root system, and are well-leafed, which contributes to their resistance to lodging and provides reliable protection against fungal diseases and pests.
Each plant forms two ears, with the upper ear located at a height of 75–80 cm. Ear length reaches 21–24 cm, diameter about 5 cm, and the number of rows of kernels varies from 18 to 20. Kernels are bright yellow, large, juicy, and uniform in structure, with a tender husk of about 0.8–0.9 cm in height. The unique delicate flavor and aroma make this hybrid especially attractive for home cooking, freezing, and various processing methods. High total sugar content ensures rapid marketability for both fresh produce and industrial processing.
A distinctive feature of the hybrid is its dark, dense husk leaves, which reduce moisture loss during harvest, storage, and transportation, contributing to prolonged fruit quality. A strong and compact root system prevents premature wilting and lodging of plants under strong winds. Due to these characteristics, Accent MV is a reliable and high-yielding choice for farmers seeking a stable and high-quality sweet corn harvest.
