Maize A 2542 Z

Technological Potential of Monsanto A 2542 Z

This maize hybrid by Monsanto is a prime example of breeding focused on maximum biomass and grain yield. The technical value of the A 2542 Z lies in its balanced genetics and dent-type grain, which ensures a high density of starch compounds while maintaining optimal dry-down rates.

Agrotechnical Indicators and Sowing Structure

The key feature of this model is its FAO rating, ranging from 90 to 1240, which indicates the hybrid’s adaptability to various temperature regimes and vegetation lengths. Its medium maturity period allows for flexible harvest planning—whether for grain or silage—minimizing the risk of losses due to adverse autumn weather conditions.

To achieve projected yield targets, the manufacturer recommends a variable planting density strategy based on the specific agronomic background:

• 50,000–55,000 plants/ha: Recommended for extensive conditions with limited moisture, prioritizing individual plant space.
• 75,000–80,000 plants/ha: The optimal standard for regions with sufficient moisture levels.
• 85,000–90,000 plants/ha: An intensive regime for highly fertile soils utilizing precision farming techniques.

The yellow-orange grain combined with dent-type endosperm morphology facilitates efficient threshing and drying, reducing energy costs during post-harvest processing. This dual-use capability makes the A 2542 Z a robust tool for operations focusing on both livestock production (silage potential) and cash grain production.
