Double Zinnia "Carnaval" – a bright and cheerful plant that delights the eye from June until autumn frosts. Height 70–80 cm, solitary flower heads up to 15 cm in diameter, covered with white, yellow, or pink petals with crimson stripes of varying sizes – like a fireworks display in the garden.
The variety is distinguished by its ease of cultivation and hardiness. Seeds are large, resembling sunflower seeds, and germinate after preliminary soaking in gauze. Seedling planting is done from April: 2–3 seeds per container up to 1 cm deep, at a temperature of +18 °C, seedlings appear within 5–7 days. After leaves appear, plants are transplanted into the garden in May, with a distance of 20–30 cm between bushes. In open ground, direct sowing is possible: rate – 10–15 seeds per linear meter.
"Carnaval" prefers sunny locations and loose, fertile soils, but it easily withstands heat and requires little care. Regular watering during dry periods, loosening, and weeding will ensure healthy growth. The plant is ideal for cut flowers – it stays fresh for up to two weeks.
In garden design, zinnia is used as a standalone plant or in combination with marigolds, petunias, phloxes, and snapdragons. Thanks to its tall foliage, it looks harmonious in group plantings, along fences, walls of buildings, as well as in city parks and squares. The variety pairs beautifully with other annuals and stands out among conifers thanks to its bright double coloring.
