Carrot Nordhorn

Genetics from Bejo Zaden: The Path to Registration

The 'Nordhorn' carrot is the result of years of breeding work by the Dutch company Bejo Zaden B.V., a global leader in vegetable hybrid development. In 2026, the variety was officially added to the State Register of Plant Varieties of Ukraine, marking the culmination of successful trials regarding its adaptability to local soil and climatic conditions.

Breeding Context and Positioning

The development of 'Nordhorn' was driven by the specific needs of professional growers: resistance to environmental stressors and high marketability. Within the Bejo portfolio, this hybrid occupies a niche for high-yielding varieties designed for long-term storage and mechanized harvesting. Unlike early-maturing varieties, 'Nordhorn' demonstrates consistent root development even under intensive growing conditions.

Why This Hybrid Matters for the Market

• Origin: Direct breeding by Bejo Zaden B.V. ensures genetic purity and predictable yields.
• Adaptation: Official registration in 2026 confirms that the variety has passed rigorous state trials, serving as a quality benchmark for Ukrainian farmers.
• Efficiency: The hybrid is engineered for modern agricultural practices, minimizing losses during harvest.

Choosing 'Nordhorn' is an investment in proven European breeding, providing a balance between yield and the high-quality produce demanded by both retail chains and the processing industry.
