Lucian is a proprietary sweet potato variety that emerged in 2022 following the winter of 2021‑2022. The seeds were grown on the family Luzan's own plots and withstood cold conditions while the soil remained moist under the mulch. Thanks to these features, the plant reached near-freezing temperatures, allowing for tubers with a unique texture.
The tubers of the 'Lucian' variety are characterized by a crunchy, juicy, and sweet texture when raw, reminiscent of the taste of chestnuts. When baked, they retain moisture, become crumbly and aromatic, with a subtle banana-chestnut undertone. The taste is harmonious and rich, making this sweet potato ideal for both home cooking and culinary experiments.
