Barley Odessa 167 (8552/120)

Odessa 167 (8552/120) — a drought-resistant barley variety intended for high-intensity farming conditions. It is characterized by uniform plant stand and high bushiness, contributing to stable yields. The average yield over two years of research under drought conditions was 5.52 t/ha. Plants are 67–71 cm tall, semi-erect bush, with glabrous green leaves and long, slender, flexible straw-yellow awned spikes 8–10 cm long. Grain is light-yellow, elongated-oval in shape, with 1000-grain weight of 50–55 g and uniformity of 95%. Grain extractability reaches 80%. The variety possesses comprehensive resistance to major diseases, including powdery mildew, striped helminthosporium, and scab diseases, as well as high resistance to lodging. These qualities make Odessa 167 a reliable choice for cultivation under various soil-climate conditions. Thanks to its drought and disease resistance, the variety ensures stable and high yields even in challenging agroclimatic zones. Odessa 167 is primarily used for producing high-quality grain. Its characteristics, such as high extractability and large grain size, make it attractive to agricultural producers focused on maximum output and product quality. The variety belongs to the nutans type with two-row ears, further highlighting its selection traits and adaptation to intensive farming technologies.
