Barley OTRA

Consistency and Adaptability of Otra Spring Barley

The "Otra" spring barley variety, developed by the Elita breeding center, has established itself as a reliable choice for farmers seeking consistent yields under unpredictable climatic conditions. This two-row spring barley is known for its balance between vigorous growth and resilience to stressful environmental factors.

With a vegetation period of 75–85 days, Otra is designed to effectively utilize spring moisture and reach maturity before the peak of summer heat. The variety shows excellent tillering capacity, producing 450–550 productive stems per square meter. The plants typically reach a height of 60–85 cm, resulting in a dense and uniform crop stand that is well-suited for modern harvesting equipment.

Grain Quality and Productivity Highlights

A key feature of Otra is the size and quality of its kernels. The weight of 1,000 seeds ranges between 45–52 grams, which is a high standard for spring varieties. Furthermore, the nitrogen content in the dry matter remains stable at 12–14%, making the grain highly valued for fodder production and livestock feed formulations.

• Type: Two-row spring barley.
• Maturity: 75–85 days (early-to-mid maturity).
• Plant Height: 60–85 cm (strong stand resistance).
• Grain Metric: 45–52g per 1,000 seeds.
• Tillering: 450–550 productive stems/m².

Otra is favored by producers who prioritize risk management. Its ability to maintain a high density of productive stems reduces weed pressure early in the season, while its uniform maturation simplifies harvesting processes. By combining genetic stability with high grain weight, Otra serves as a staple variety for operations looking to maximize efficiency without requiring overly complex management systems.
