Sokhinskaya 12 is a variety of three-lobed azimina (Asimina triloba) characterized by its love for sunlight and a height ranging from 3.5 to 4 meters with a wide pyramidal crown. The leaves are large, measuring 22–35 cm in length, with a leathery texture and an oval-oblong shape. The plant is frost-resistant (up to –29 °C) and has moderate drought tolerance, though it cannot tolerate water stagnation.
The fruits of the Sokhinskaya 12 variety reach lengths of 9.5 to 12 cm and weigh between 120 and 350 g. They are cylindrical or oval in shape, ribless, with a thin skin that easily slips off when ripe. The flesh is yellow, tender, and creamy, with a taste featuring a sweetly cloying flavor with notes of banana and mango. Inside the fruit, there are 10–14 large brown-black seeds.
Fruiting begins in late April to early May, with ripening occurring in September (occasionally extending into October). The first fruiting occurs on the 4th to 8th year of the sapling's life. For good cross-pollination, it is necessary to plant at least two trees, as the plant requires cross-pollination. When cultivating, it is recommended to loosen the root zones and apply mineral and organic fertilizers in the spring; during the active growth phase, feeding with ammonium nitrate or urea solution can be used.
The variety has moderate yield – about 32 kg from one tree, but with proper care and a sufficient number of pollinators, it can achieve higher yields. Azimina Sokhinskaya 12 is suitable for cultivation in southern latitudes where the climate allows for full fruit development, as well as in zones of frost resistance from 5 to 8th.
