Aster NONNA

Breeding Heritage and Professional Application

The annual aster 'Nonna' is a product of established Russian plant breeding, developed by the Federal Scientific Center for Vegetable Growing. This cultivar is the result of long-term research conducted by a team of experts, including Galina Viktorovna Ostryakova, focusing on creating reliable, visually distinct seed material adapted for temperate climates.

Agrotechnical Profile

As an annual crop, 'Nonna' concentrates its biological cycle within a single season. Lacking winter hardiness, the plant directs all its energy toward intensive flowering. Professional growers value this variety for its development predictability. When grown using standard transplanting methods, the plants form sturdy, reliable flower stalks, making them an excellent choice for open-field decorative projects.

Landscape Design Utility

The core strength of 'Nonna' lies in its suitability for flower beds and landscape compositions. Developed at the Educational and Scientific Center of the Vegetable Research Station, the variety displays high uniformity, a critical factor for professional landscaping. It is an efficient tool for gardeners: it requires minimal maintenance while providing high decorative value, particularly when planted in well-lit, well-drained soil where it can achieve its full bloom potential as intended by its originators.
