Plumcot «ANDROMEDA» – a universal variety with a vigorous tree and large fruits weighing about 30 grams. The fruits have a broadly ovoid or round shape, dark purplish skin with a smooth purplish coating and a waxy bloom, ensuring good transportability. The flesh is yellow, medium-juicy, fused-fibrous, and the stone separates from the flesh on average.
The fruit composition is characterized by 13.6% sugars, 3.1% acids, and 8.9 mg of vitamin C per 100 g. The tasting score is 4 points out of 5, confirming a pleasant taste and a balance of sweetness and acidity. Yield reaches 200–160 centners per hectare per season, and the tree has a spreading crown of medium density.
The variety is distinguished by a late ripening period and resistance to transport, but low frost resistance (up to -30 °C) limits its use in colder regions. It is recommended for cultivation in Crimea and requires regional adaptation when used in other areas. Susceptibility to fungal diseases is moderate, making «ANDROMEDA» a suitable choice for commercial production given stable yield and universal purpose.
