Cherry plum Andromeda

Late-Season Perfection

The «Andromeda» cherry plum is a distinguished product of the Nikita Botanical Gardens, developed by L.A. Lukicheva and A.A. Richter. This variety fills a critical gap in the fruit harvest calendar, ripening late in the season to ensure a fresh supply of stone fruit when others are no longer available.

Key Attributes and Culinary Utility

• Fruit Profile: The fruits are deep violet, weighing between 30 and 50 grams, with a firm skin that contributes to their excellent shelf life.
• Taste: A classic, balanced sweet-and-sour profile that performs exceptionally well in both fresh consumption and culinary processing.
• Storage: Superior storage capacity sets this variety apart from its peers, making it a reliable choice for long-term enjoyment.

Why Choose Andromeda?

«Andromeda» is aimed at growers who prioritize shelf life and quality. Unlike many delicate early-ripening varieties, these fruits handle transportation and storage with ease, making them ideal for those who process their harvest over several weeks. While its late-season nature is a significant advantage, prospective growers should be mindful of its sensitivity to spring frosts—a trait common to its southern breeding origins—and the need for proper pollination partners. This variety is perfect for gardeners and small-scale farmers looking for a high-quality, durable fruit that extends the season without compromising on flavor or marketability.
