Actinidia Nadya – a female early-ripening variety of Actinidia arguta, developed by Ukrainian breeders in 1998 through hybridization of the «Purple Garden» variety and wild actinidia. The variety combines high decorative qualities with excellent yield and fruit taste, making it a popular choice for garden collections.
Fruits reach full maturity in the first decade of September. They have purple skin and bright purple flesh, with a mass ranging from 10 to 12 grams, length around 3.5 cm, and width approximately 2.2 cm. Juiciness and tart-sweet flavor make them appealing for both fresh consumption and culinary recipes.
The plant is a dioecious vine with a woody stem, reaching up to 6–8 m in height. Leaves are dark green, and fruits have a characteristic elongated shape. June is the flowering period, when fragrant white flowers bloom. For pollination, one male plant is needed for 5–8 female plants.
Actinidia Nadya is grown in conditions of slightly acidic or neutral soil (pH 5.5–6.5), light, fertile, and well-drained. It requires a sunny location or light shade. Watering should be done regularly without waterlogging. Planting is carried out in spring or autumn, with a distance between plants of 2–3 m.
The variety demonstrates high frost resistance (withstanding up to -25 °C), resistance to fungal diseases, and drought. Pruning is carried out sanitarily and shape-forming in summer or late autumn, promoting healthy growth and increased yield. As a result, one plant can produce 15–20 kg of fruit per year, making it an efficient choice for garden estates.
