Description Anniversary
The 'Anniversary' currant variety is the result of crossbreeding the 'Bedford Yellow' and 'Houghton' varieties, which provides it with unique taste and agronomic characteristics. This medium-late maturing variety begins fruiting in the second decade of July, bearing large oval-round berries with a bright yellow coloration, enhanced by a green gleam and a red blush. The average berry weight ranges from 5 to 8 grams; the flesh is dense and juicy with a sweet-sour taste and a delicate aroma, confirmed by a high tasting score. The berries are of universal purpose, suitable for fresh consumption and processing, and their chemical composition includes approximately 9.2% sugars, 2.0% titratable acidity, and a significant content of ascorbic acid.

The 'Anniversary' currant bushes are strongly growing, medium-density, and branching, with a characteristic strong spikiness of shoots, which is one of the shortcomings of the variety. The leaves are dark green, five-lobed, with a smooth surface and medium density. The flowers are small and pale, while the inflorescences consist of one or two flowers. Fruiting is regular, beginning on the 2nd-3rd year after planting, with high yields—averaging about 6 kilograms of berries per bush. The variety is characterized by good frost resistance and disease resistance, particularly to powdery mildew and fungal infections, making it a reliable choice for gardeners.

To obtain a quality and abundant harvest, the 'Anniversary' currant requires timely care, including proper watering, feeding, and disease prevention. Thanks to the dense skin and good transportability, the berries can be stored for up to a month under special conditions. High yield, excellent commercial qualities, and ease of propagation make this variety popular among amateur and professional horticulturists.
