The gooseberry variety SPARTAK is a medium-sized and moderately spreading bush with straight, matte canes of medium thickness, covered with light-colored thorns of medium length and thickness. The leaves are round, dense, green, and shiny, with sharp short teeth and a straight base with a moderate notch. The inflorescences are single-flowered, with medium-sized flowers of pale color and sepals of medium length, slightly pubescent and reflexed upwards. The berries have an obovoid shape, green color with pronounced venation and an elongated base, the average fruit weight is about 5.1 grams. The taste of the berries is sour-sweet, refreshing, without a pronounced aroma.
The SPARTAK variety belongs to mid-late maturing and universal types, characterized by stable yield, which reaches approximately 89.9 centners per hectare or about 5 kg per bush. The berries contain a significant amount of dry substances (13.8%), sugar (10.5%), acids (1.3%), and vitamin C (34.2 mg per 100 g), which ensures a high tasting score of 4.5 points. The bushes have good winter hardiness, are drought-resistant, and have a medium level of infection with septoria and fireblight.
The fruits of the SPARTAK gooseberry are widely used fresh, as well as for making jams and compotes.
