What the section contains
Schumacheria
Botanically, these plants are evergreen shrubs or small trees characterized by dense, leathery leaves. A distinguishing feature is the specific leaf venation pattern common to many members of the Dilleniaceae family.
The plant has high requirements for air and soil humidity, which is due to its tropical origin. Schumacheria prefers shaded or semi-shaded locations, typical for the understory of moist tropical forests.
The soil composition for healthy development must be rich in organic matter, well-drained, and have a slightly acidic pH. Within its natural range, the plant is adapted to consistently high annual temperatures without significant seasonal fluctuations.
Agricultural and commercial use of this plant is limited, as it is not cultivated as a mass agricultural crop. Primarily, it is of scientific interest for botanical gardens and the conservation of rare biodiversity in tropical ecosystems.
