Winter barley of the "Ninth Valve" variety is a high-yielding six-row Ukrainian selection, recommended for cultivation in all regions of Ukraine, including southern and steppe areas. This medium-maturing barley is distinguished by high winter hardiness, drought tolerance, and resistance to lodging, powdery mildew, and striped helminthosporiosis. Plants reach a height of 110-117 cm, and the 1000-seed mass varies from 40.5 to 49.4 grams, indicating large, high-quality yellow grain. The variety has high yield potential, reaching up to 9 tons per hectare in commercial plantings, significantly exceeding the performance of many foreign varieties. For successful cultivation of "Ninth Valve," careful adherence to agronomic practices is recommended. Before sowing, seeds should be treated with quality fungicides and insecticides, as well as growth stimulants and microelements to enhance germination and plant resistance. The optimal seeding rate is 3.5 to 5 million seeds per linear meter or 180-250 kg per hectare, depending on sowing timing and weather conditions. Application of mineral fertilizers, especially phosphorus and potassium at sowing, as well as nitrogenous top-dressings in spring, promotes maximum crop development and yield. Weed control during the tillering stage until stem elongation, as well as fungicides, insecticides, and growth regulators, are essential for plant protection and increased productivity. The "Ninth Valve" variety demonstrates adaptability to cultivation factors and can compete with top European and Canadian varieties at a lower seed cost. Thanks to its adaptive qualities and high agronomic performance, this barley is a reliable choice for farmers aiming for stable and high yields.
