RED SAILS

The 'Red Sails' apple tree is a late-summer variety bred in Crimea. It is a medium-sized tree with a narrow pyramidal or round spreading crown, beginning to bear fruit 4-5 years after planting. The variety is characterized by high annual yields and low maintenance requirements, making it suitable for cultivation in various regions, although trees are recommended to be covered with protective material and buried with snow during cold winters to prevent freezing. Immunity and frost resistance are at a medium level, but the tree has good recovery ability after damage.

The fruits of the 'Red Sails' apple tree ripen at the end of summer, usually in the last decade of August. Apples have an elongated-rounded or ribbed elongated shape, with an average weight varying from 50-70 grams to 160-170 grams depending on the description; the fruit color is creamy or yellow-green with a bright red or crimson blush. The fruit skin is thick, smooth, and dull. The flesh is characterized by medium to high juiciness, a pleasant sour-sweet taste with a honey or weak strawberry aroma, which gives the apples a special appeal.

For successful cultivation of the 'Red Sails' apple tree, it is recommended to choose sunny areas with chernozem soils. Planting holes should have dimensions of about 0.6 meters in diameter and 0.5-0.6 meters in depth. Care for the trees includes regular pruning, feeding with organic fertilizers, and thinning out the fruits to improve their quality. Apples are harvested when fully ripe and stored at temperatures from 0 to +5°C, which allows them to maintain their freshness and taste qualities.
