Alva apple variety is a Polish selection, characterized by a tall, fast-growing tree with a spreading and dense crown suitable for spindle formation. The bark on the trunk and scaffold branches is smooth and brown, while shoots are thin, angular, reddish-brown, and hairy. Leaves are dark green, large, egg-shaped with a wavy and doubly serrated margin, and flowers are of medium size, white-pink, and fragrant. The tree is characterized by high winter hardiness and good heat resistance, making it a reliable choice for growing in various climatic conditions. Alva apple fruits are of medium size, weighing from 120 to 160 grams, round in shape with five distinct ribs at the calyx. The main fruit color is yellow-green with a red-carmine blush covering almost the entire surface. The skin is smooth and shiny, with numerous light subcutaneous dots. The flesh is white, fine-grained, of medium density, with a pleasant refreshing sour-sweet taste. Fruits ripen in mid-October and can be stored in the refrigerator for up to seven months, allowing for universal use fresh and for processing. The Alva variety is characterized by early fruiting, especially on the dwarf M9 rootstock, where fruiting begins as early as the third year. Yield is high, reaching significant figures with proper care and fertilization. Despite good resistance to winter colds and heat, the variety has medium resistance to diseases, specifically powdery mildew and bark and wood diseases. For successful pollination, it is recommended to plant varieties Ligol, Lobo, Gala, or Gloster nearby.
