SUN'S GIFT

The watermelon "Sun's Gift" is an early-maturing variety successfully grown in northern regions, including Siberia. The ripening period is about 67-73 days from germination to fruit maturity, allowing for a harvest even under short summer conditions. The plant is bushy; when grown in film greenhouses, it is recommended to tie it to trellises and shape the bush by removing lateral shoots and pinching above a certain leaf for optimal growth.

The watermelon fruits have an average mass of 3.5-4.0 kg and are distinguished by a bright golden-yellow rind. The flesh is rich red, tender-grained, and very juicy, with a high sugar content — from 10.4 to 11.0%, which gives the watermelon excellent taste qualities. Due to its sweetness and juiciness, this variety is popular among lovers of sweet and aromatic watermelons.

For successful growing, sowing for seedlings is recommended at the end of April, followed by planting in open ground or a greenhouse at the end of May — beginning of June, when the plants reach 30-35 days of age. The planting scheme is 70x150 cm, which provides optimal space for plant development and obtaining a high yield — up to 7-9 kg per square meter. When grown under cover, artificial pollination is necessary for fruit formation.
