Watermelon Zvezda

Genetic Potential and Fruit Morphology

The 'Zvezda' watermelon from Agrofirma Poisk is the result of focused breeding aimed at balancing transportability and market quality. The key feature of this variety lies in the fruit geometry: the oval-elongated shape ensures optimal distribution of internal pressure during stacking, which is critical for logistics and storage. The average weight of a fruit ranges from 5.0 to 8.0 kg, representing the 'gold standard' for retail: these watermelons are easy to transport, and their size is ideal for single-family consumption.

Internal Structure and Organoleptic Profile

The core of the 'Zvezda' watermelon features a deep red flesh color. From an agronomic standpoint, the color intensity indicates a high concentration of lycopene and sugars, directly impacting the visual appeal upon cutting. The density of the flesh is balanced to eliminate the risk of hollow heart or texture breakdown, provided that proper agricultural practices are followed. Thanks to breeding efforts conducted in collaboration with VNIIO and Agrofirma Poisk experts, the variety is well-adapted to environments where efficient use of the growing season is required to reach marketable weight.

Agronomic Advantages

• Shape Stability: The oval-elongated format promotes uniform ripening, preventing fruit deformation even under high planting densities.
• Size-Weight Parameters: The 5–8 kg weight makes the 'Zvezda' variety a versatile market product, minimizing losses during mechanized harvesting and transit.
• Breeding Integrity: The patent holders (including VNIIO and Agrofirma Poisk) ensure line purity, guaranteeing consistent germination and predictable harvest results when irrigation and nutrition schedules are maintained.

Selecting this variety is a logical choice for farms aiming for a stable yield with predictable commercial characteristics that meet current market demand for medium-sized fruit with high density and vibrant taste profiles.
