Red Garnet is a mid-season seedless watermelon that matures 75–85 days after planting. The fruits have an oval shape, weighing from 6 to 8 kg, with an attractive dark green rind with stripes. The flesh is rich red, crisp, very sweet with a sugar content of 13-14% on the Brix scale, and has a bright aroma. The plant is characterized by high vigor and the ability to well protect fruits from sunburn, which contributes to maintaining the quality of the harvest.
The Red Garnet watermelon consistently forms 3–4 full-sized fruits on each vine. The fruit skin is dense, 1–1.5 cm thick, with a waxy coating, which provides excellent protection from external influences and contributes to high transportability. Due to these characteristics, as well as uniformity and high yield, this hybrid is in high demand in fresh produce markets and among retail chains.
The plant has high resistance to temperature fluctuations and stressful conditions, recovers quickly after unfavorable factors. Immunity to most fungal and viral diseases allows building a reliable protection system, which makes Red Garnet an attractive choice for farmers focused on conveyor shipments of both fresh and processed agricultural products.
