Watermelon Mysterious

A unique Ukrainian choice for early markets

The “Zahadochnyi” watermelon, developed by the Institute of Vegetable and Melon Growing of NAAS, is a standout choice for growers looking to differentiate their produce. Built for the Ukrainian climate, this variety is highly valued for its ultra-early maturity, reaching harvest readiness in just 50-60 days.

The surprise inside: color diversity

The essence of the variety, hinted at by its name (“Mysterious”), is the unpredictability of its flesh. Upon slicing, these watermelons can reveal either vibrant red or delicate yellow pulp. This visual variability makes the variety a top contender for farm-to-table markets and culinary displays where appearance is as important as taste.

• Convenient Size: Weighing between 3.0 and 5.0 kg, these watermelons are perfect for individual portions and easy handling.
• Form Factor: The round-elongated shape is ideal for efficient packing and logistics, reducing storage waste.
• Rapid Cycle: The short vegetative period allows growers to hit the early season market before the mass production peak.

While not a long-term storage variety, “Zahadochnyi” excels in the early fresh-market segment. It is the perfect tool for farmers aiming to capture the interest of modern consumers who prioritize aesthetics and unique produce experiences.
