Hercules is a mid-season vegetable pea variety characterized by high yield and resistance to most diseases. The plants reach a height of 40-50 cm, have strong stems, and do not require support due to their resistance to lodging. The pods are green, 10-11 cm long, and contain large peas with excellent taste qualities. This variety is suitable for cultivation in open ground, with seeds sown at a depth of no more than 5 cm.
Hercules is characterized by high cold hardiness and ease of care, making it convenient for cultivation in various climatic conditions. The vegetative period from germination to technical maturity is 60-70 days. Due to its high content of protein, sugars, and vitamins, peas of this variety are widely used for fresh consumption, as well as for canning and freezing, which allows to preserve their useful properties for a long time.
Additionally, Hercules peas are popular among anglers as an effective bait. To prepare the bait, the peas are soaked in water with added baking soda for three days, then boiled until foam appears, after which they are cooled and rinsed. Such processing makes the peas soft and allows them to be easily threaded onto a hook, while they do not crumble. Additionally, for convenience in storage and use, a nylon mesh can be used, into which dry peas are placed, which allows to preserve their freshness and use portions as needed.
