Aster Yaskrava

Growing «Yaskrava» Asters: A Practical Guide

Choosing the «Yaskrava» variety, developed by the Institute of Horticulture of the NAAS, is a reliable strategy for both professional flower growers and gardeners looking for stability in the Ukrainian climate. This annual variety is known for its predictable growth patterns and consistent performance in various soil conditions.

Technical Specifications and Management

The plant reaches a height of 50–80 cm, providing an ideal structure for commercial cut flowers. The stems are robust enough to support large blossoms, ranging from 10 to 15 cm in diameter, without the need for intensive staking systems. This consistency allows for streamlined management during the growing season and simplifies the harvesting process.

• Cultivation Cycle: Being an annual, the variety thrives when started from seeds. It responds well to moderate irrigation and regular soil aeration, ensuring a strong root system.
• Usage: The variety is dual-purpose: it functions as a visual anchor in flower beds and provides high-quality material for floral arrangements.
• Visual Variety: The range of colors — white, yellow, pink, red, and purple — offers extensive options for both monochromatic and contrasting planting schemes.

Unlike exotic hybrids that require precise adjustments, «Yaskrava» adapts smoothly to local environmental factors, reducing the risk of crop failure. For a grower, this means predictable costs for fertilizers and plant protection, as well as a high yield of marketable flowers that maintain their freshness and structural integrity after being cut. This variety represents an efficient balance between aesthetic appeal and ease of maintenance.
