Tomato TOYS

Early Harvest Strategy for Large-Fruited Tomatoes

"Toys" is a breeding achievement by Mikhail Lvovich Grishin, designed for growers who prioritize a combination of marketability and ultra-early ripening. In the segment of indeterminate tomatoes, this hybrid stands out for its precocity: a vegetation period of up to 90 days allows for a substantial harvest when the market is still experiencing a shortage of high-quality produce.

Key Advantages in Field Conditions

• Mass and Form: Fruits weighing over 200 grams feature a classic flat-round shape and an intense pink color, setting a benchmark for the salad tomato segment.
• Genetic Protection: Built-in resistance to a complex of diseases (Fusarium wilt, Verticillium wilt, Cladosporium leaf mold, Tobacco mosaic virus) significantly reduces the need for aggressive chemical treatments.
• Resistance to Fruit Rots: Special emphasis is placed on protection against rot and blossom-end rot, which is critical during intensive cultivation.

Target Growers

"Toys" is ideal for farms specializing in plastic greenhouses or early open-field cycles. An yield potential exceeding 190 tons per hectare makes it a commercially attractive choice. Despite the delicate pink color, the fruits possess good transportability, allowing the harvest to reach retail chains without losing commercial appeal.

A notable aspect of this hybrid is the need for careful pruning and support of the indeterminate vine, which requires more labor than low-growing determinate forms. However, for professionals targeting fresh produce markets, this hybrid serves as a reliable instrument for profit generation by balancing early maturity and large fruit size.
